A Pitch-based Approach to Time-delay Estimation of Reverberant Speech

چکیده

Generalized Cross-Correlation (GCC) has been the traditional method for estimating the relative time-delay associated with the speech signals received by a pair of microphones in a reverberant, noisy environment. The ltering criterion employed is either focussed on the signal degradations due to additive noise or those due exclusively to multipath channel eeects. There has been relatively little success at applying GCC weighting schemes which are robust to both of these conditions. This paper details an alternative approach which attempts to employ a signal dependent criterion, namely the estimated periodicity of harmonic spectral intervals, to design a GCC lter appropriate for the combination of noise and multipath signal distortions. Simulations are performed across a range of room conditions to illustrate the utility of the proposed time-delay estimation method relative to conventional GCC ltering approaches.

A one-microphone algorithm for reverberant speech enhancement

We present an algorithm for reverberant speech enhancement using one microphone. We first propose a novel pitch-based reverberation measure for estimating reverberation time (RT60) based on the distribution of relative time lags. This measure of pitch strength correlates with reverberation and decreases systematically as detrimental effects of reverberation on harmonic structure increase. Then ...

A Pitch-Based Method for the Estimation of Short Reverberation Time

Reverberation corrupts harmonic structure in voiced speech. We observe that the pitch strength of voiced speech segments is indicative of the degree of reverberation. Consequently, we present an estimation method of reverberation time (T60) based on pitch strength. The pitch strength is measured by deriving the statistics of relative time lags, defined as the distances from the detected pitch p...

A robust method for speech signal time-delay estimation in reverberant rooms

Conventional time-delay estimators exhibit dramatic performance degradations in the presence of multipath signals. This limits their application in reverberant enclosures, particularly when the signal of interest is speech and it may not possible to estimate and compensate for channel e ects prior to time-delay estimation. This paper details an alternative approach which reformulates the proble...

Low Delay Noise Reduction and Dereverberation for Hearing Aids

A new system for single-channel speech enhancement is proposed which achieves a joint suppression of late reverberant speech and background noise with a low signal delay and low computational complexity. It is based on a generalized spectral subtraction rule which depends on the variances of the late reverberant speech and background noise. The calculation of the spectral variances of the late ...

Efficient Speech Dereverberation for Binaural Hearing Aids

An efficient two-stage algorithm for binaural cue preserving speech dereverberation by spectral weighting is presented. The first stage reduces late reverberant speech components where the second stage aims at a suppression of non-coherent early and remaining late reverberant speech components. The proposed system is based on the binaural speech dereverberation algorithm of Jeub et al. [3]. In ...
